The Best Tofu Scramble

The BEST Tofu Scramble! It is so easy to make, high in protein and super eggy vegan scramble! Taking literally 10 minutes or less from start to finish, it’s an easy healthy breakfast meal when served on toast, in a breakfast burrito, or with a side of hash browns! In addition, it’s healthier, lower in fat and cholesterol-free, so it’s a win-win!

Tofu scramble is one of the best ways to eat tofu! It is a healthy, protein-rich substitute for eggs! Because of it’s slight chewiness, it naturally has just the right texture, but it really needs a boost in flavor since it’s very plain without seasoning.

This is what breakfast dreams are made of. In just 15 minutes your flavorless block of tofu is transformed into fluffy and flavorful tofu scramble!

It’s perfect on it’s own, or served on toast, or in a breakfast burrito, or a skillet breakfast. It’s the breakfast of possibilities and it’s about to revolutionize your morning. Let’s do this super eggy vegan tofu scramble! It is:

  • Super eggy
  • Quick and easy
  • High Protein
  • Satisfying
  • Hearty
  • Nutritious
  • A breakfast of champions!

Enjoy hot, topped with some chopped chives, with or without toast and with some sliced avocado and fried tomato on the side.

I prefer using firm tofu. Extra-firm is fine as well. There is no need to press your tofu for this recipe; the water will cook out in the first couple of minutes.

Store tofu scramble in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.

You can freeze Tofu Scramble, but the texture of Tofu changes a lot when frozen, it will be dry, and more crumbly!

Reheat tofu scramble in the microwave or on the stove-top in a skillet. If you want to add moisture, you can add a splash of non-dairy milk.

How to Make Tofu Scramble?

Begin your tofu scrambled eggs with a block of extra firm tofu. I like to press it to remove as much moisture from the tofu as possible. If you don’t have a tofu presser (I highly recommend them), then simply wrap the tofu in a kitchen towel, place it on a plate and top it with something heavy, like a small iron skillet.

Then heat oil to a frying pan and saute onion and tomato. Add the veggies and seasonings. Toss the scrambled tofu and cook till its dry. Garnish with cilantro and dash of lime juice.

Tofu scramble is a popular vegan breakfast dish similar to scrambled eggs. Although this recipe calls for onions and green peppers, try adding some mock meat crumbles or experiment with different vegetable combinations, such as spinach, mushrooms and green onions. The possibilities for tofu scramble are endless!

Some of my favorite add-ins are,

  • Broccoli
  • Spinach
  • Bell Peppers
  • Tomato
  • Onion
  • Potatoes

  • Black Beans
  • Pinto Beans

Other Fun Toppings:

  • Vegan Cheese
  • Salsa
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Hot Sauce
